Steve Jobs Home Burglarized

Kariem McFarlinJuly 17th, 35 year old Kariem McFarlin of Alameda unknowlingly broke into and robbed the English country-style Palo Alto home of the late Steve Jobs, stealing over $60,000 in computers, jewelry, and other property.

The house was being renovated at the time, and as such was empty. McFarlin was arrested August 2nd and charged with residential burglary and selling stolen property, and incarcerated in the Santa Clara County jail pending his court hearing on August 6th. Bail was set at $500,000.

McFarlin stated that he did not know that the house he was burglarizing belonged to Steve Jobs, which is conceivable. However, it is unlikely he would remain unaware of this after entering and exploring the home.

Because of the nature of the stolen goods, a high-technology crimes unit was placed on the case, but Palo Alto police refused to comment further on the subject.

Whether the items stolen belonged to Jobs or another family member remains to be seen, as Tom Flattery (Santa Clara Country prosecutor) would not say.
