Criminal Lawyer San Francisco Covering Crime From DUI to Murder

Arrest Made in 2002 Ranch Solano Murder

Dorothy Marie YorkFAIRFIELD — Fairfield police arrested a 33-year Dorothy York near her home in Sacramento Friday afternoon.  A Solano County grand jury indictment revived the murder case against York, who allegedly shot and killed 67-year-old George Ferdinand Dawkins in his Rancho Solano home in 2002. Police took York to the Solano County jail, where she is being held without bail.

In 2003, murder charges against Dorothy Marie York were dropped after Solano County prosecutors conceded police had violated York's Miranda rights, making a statement she made to Fairfield officers useless at trial. Without that statement there was not enough evidence to convict York.

This week, behind closed doors, prosecutors made their case a second time against York, using the testimony of several Fairfield police officers describing events nearly a decade old.

York is once again accused of shooting 67-year-old  in his Rancho Solano home on the night of Sept. 29, 2002.

Triple Murder in San Leandro – “Person of Interest” Sketch

Person of Interest San Leandro ShootingThree people were killed and three others injured in a shooting spree outside a party in an industrial area of San Leandro early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the corner of Alvarado Street and Aladdin Avenue based on a 911 call that shots had been fired in the area, according to a police spokesman. When officers arrived, they discovered that six people had been shot shortly after the party let out. Three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased were a 19-year-old San Francisco woman, her 16-year-old friend and a 20-year-old Oakland man.

Two of the injured were taken to a hospital by ambulance and another wounded man drove himself there. Police did not yet know the severity of their injuries.

The party was held in a warehouse or office space and was advertised online. Police are still trying to track down the owners of the business park where the shooting happened, to see who rented the building out.

According to Twitter users, the party was an "Inked up" tattoo event at 661 Alvarado St. Witnesses said after the party ended they were approached by at least two gunmen who opened fire.

By Monday San Leandro Police  released a sketch of a man in a hoodie who they say is a "person of interest" in the shooting. A Police Department spokesman stopped short of calling the man a suspect.

Police described the man as a black male with a light complexion, about five-foot-seven inches tall and weighing an estimated 150 pounds. He is thought to be between the ages of 18 to 21.
Police said he has black hair in dreadlocks with gold tips that extend just below the shoulders. He has a thin mustache and a goatee, and wears upper and lower gold teeth with canines and diamonds.

The city's anonymous tip line is (510) 577-3278.

Castillo was arrested  in West Sacramento on Sunday night, after a three-day manhunt. He was caught in a public place at about 7:30 p.m. and is being returned to San Jose, according to a police spokesman.

Castillo was seen Friday evening in an apartment complex, leading nearly 60 officers, police dogs and helicopters to search the area and nearby neighborhood for him.

When he was spotted by officers, Castillo came at them in a threatening manner, and they fired at him. It is unclear whether or not he was hit, but he escaped the altercation on foot.

Police then spotted Nguyen's car parked at the complex where Castillo was originally seen.

Nguyen, whose body was found Saturday in a garage in the Willow Glen neighborhood, was an office manager, and hosted a Vietnamese language radio show. Authorities believe Castillo killed Nguyen after carjacking her Lexus sedan in a shopping center parking lot Friday afternoon then driving off with her to a house a few miles away.

Castillo is also suspected of shooting a 42-year-old man at a gas station. The man, whose condition and name are unknown,  is expected to survive.
